This item/creature has two forms (or "modes") - one where it functions as an advanced crossbow, and another where it deploys itself as a tiny "Droid" drone-like unit. The mode can be changed during a Short Rest.


Crossbow Mode

  • The mechanism can auto-load additional bolts for hands-free rapid fire (normally the reload is limited to 3 bolts).
  • One shot is reserved for the "Batman Grapple" which fires a spike/grapple and 100 feet of spidersilk rope.
    • Range 50-100 (typical attack DC 12/grapple 15/pierce 20/pierce hard material)
    • Winch can retract rope at rate of 10 ft per round (up to 100 pounds) 5 ft per round (up to 200 pounds)
    • Rope + forearm lock will hold (no winch retraction) up to 400 pounds.

Droid Mode

  • The droid ("Gizmo") can act independently to perform one Action per turn.
  • The action can be directed via a mental command (120 ft range) as your Bonus Action.
  • Lightning damage will heal its HP, unless 2x max in one shot (which shorts it, requiring repair).
  • At 7th level gains ability to Fly and use cantrips (Produce Flame and Flash).
  • At 9th level INT raised to 8 (-1), gains +3 Perception and ability to scan for Traps/Doors.
