The Exceeds, called Wingly by the humans as a racial slur, where very intelligent, cat-like humanoids with wings who had a strong natural ability to use magic, even from a young age. They would be the first to use the magic of the “Moon that Never Sets” and built flying islands and cities using the moons magic. Coupled with their natural ability to fly, the Exceeds made their home in the air on their floating cities.
The Exceed got tricked into declaring war on all other races, and where ultimately defeated. This war, known as the Dragon Campaign, nearly caused the extinction of the Exceed race. There are only a few hundred remaining who live in solitude, apart from the other races in a forest in Eberron. Due to their own shame, most have stopped practicing magic and over the generations, most Exceed's wings have become very small and unusable for flight.
