During The Breaking, all plane walls where torn down, exposing all divine planes to each others magic. This significantly weakened the deities. The falling of The Moon That Never Set's also meant that the enchantment holding Harudogan, The Divine Dragon, The Great Destoryer, was broken. In order to save what remained of the living world, deities from all planes rushed to restrain him. Due to their weakened states, many deities died during this battle. Realizing very quickly that Harudogan could not be killed, many remaining Deities came up with a plan. They sacrificed themselves in a ritual to create another enchantment, their essence gathered into a single massive flame. The flame burns a brilliant silver and was successful in, not only restraining Harudogan, but making him dormant. This Silver Flame now sits at the heart of Mount Mortal Dragon. Many Exceed volunteered to guard the flame along side an army of Aasimar. As the decades grow, more and more Exceed arrive to guard the Silver Flame, viewing it as their privilege to bring honor back to their once shamed race. Now for an Exceed to be selected to guard the Silver Flame is the greatest of honors. Being close to the Silver Flame for a prolonged life time has rumored to increase the powers of the guards to incredible levels. Although in the 200 years of the flame, no one has dared test this theory.
Priests, Clerics, and Paladins cam serve the Silver Flame from afar by dedicating their life to rooting out evil and destroying it wherever possible. The divine essence of the Silver Flame gives these devoted, magic power. Magic that raise the dead are of the highest offenses to a servant of the Silver Flame, as they believe that once a person dies, their soul enters the Silver Flame to fuel it. To remove a soul from the flame by raising the dead is taboo.
