Victoro's letter to his love

My dearest,

I commit these words to paper in an attempt to immortalize my thoughts and emotions before they are cruelly stripped away at my mother’s insistence.

How fervently I wish to spend my life with you, my beloved, and our newly born son. Yet, alas, such a life is not to be. My mother, resolute in her beliefs, deems our bond a stain upon the dignity of our venerable family. Neither reason nor plea can sway her; nor will she entertain the notion of my stepping away from the family to pursue my own path.

Thus, I am left with but one course to safeguard you and our child: to submit to her unkind and grievous demands. It is a fate I abhor, but within it lies the assurance that our son will be provided for and granted the means to live a life of happiness and prosperity.

I beg your forgiveness for failing to be the husband you deserve. I beg your forgiveness for failing to be the father our child deserves.

Though I may be compelled to relinquish my love for you, know that I shall forever strive, in whatever manner remains to me, to protect you both. You will ever remain my heart's true sanctuary, even if I am destined to live apart from you.

With all the sorrow and love of my being,

Yours always.
