Nidavellir, the rugged and imposing mountain range that stretches across the eastern expanse of the Bifrost Isles, is the ancestral homeland of the Dwarven clans. These towering peaks, shrouded in mist and snow, are home to a hardy and resilient people, whose subterranean cities and vast networks of tunnels run deep beneath the earth. The mountains themselves are rich in precious ores, gemstones, and minerals, which the dwarves mine tirelessly to forge their renowned weapons, armor, and intricate works of craftsmanship.
Inhabitants
Dwarves
Nidavellir is a land of contrasts—brutal and beautiful, dangerous and rich with opportunity. The dwarves who call this place home are as unyielding as the mountains themselves, and their legacy is etched into the very stone of the Isles. The Dwarven clans of Nidavellir are fiercely independent and fiercely loyal to one another. Each clan has its own unique customs, traditions, and cultural identity, but they all share a deep connection to the mountains and the ancient ways of their ancestors.
Despite their isolation, the dwarves maintain strong ties with the other inhabitants of the Bifrost Isles. Their weapons and artifacts are highly sought after by the Goliath tribes, Wood Elves, and others, and their craftsmen often trade their wares in exchange for the resources they cannot find in the mountains. While they may not engage in the same level of politics as other settlements, the dwarves are a respected and vital part of the Bifrost Isles, known for their stoicism, honor, and unwavering dedication to their craft.
Valkyries
Magical stone automatons crafted by the Dwarves to combat the Kobolds of the deep and other lurking horrors beneath the mountains. These formidable winged constructs are powered by ore infused with the raw energy of Odin's magical thunder, imbuing them with immense strength and vitality. Designed for both protection and warfare, these automatons serve as guardians of the Dwarven strongholds, ensuring the safety of their people from the dangers that dwell below.
Kobolds
Below the dwarves also lives an ancient tribe of Kobolds. These Kobolds were once devoted followers of an ancient dragon that ruled the mountains long ago. However, the dragon was slain by the Duergar with the aid of Odin, though the Kobolds either remain ignorant of this fact or refuse to accept it. To this day, they continue to guard their fallen master's lair, attacking any intruders who dare trespass.
