She rules the turning — harvest's last abundance giving way to the first frost, the hinge between the Queen of Light's excess and the long silence of winter. Her court gathers at the exact moment fruit is heaviest on the branch, in the days just before the fall, and she is said to preside over every letting-go: the ripe fruit dropping, the leaf releasing its branch, the year loosening its grip.
Description
Sharp-featured and elvish, with skin gone pale as bark stripped of bark, and eyes the deep red of the leaves that crown her — a headdress woven from autumn foliage, gold shading to rust. Her hair falls long and magenta past a draped wine-colored cloak. One hand is no longer a hand at all: a bare, gnarled branch, twig-fingered, that she never troubles to hide.
Personality
Unhurried in a way none of the other three understand. Where Titania burns and the Morning Rose rushed toward everything, the Queen of Autumn Leaves has made a philosophy out of watching things end well. She holds no grudge against decay — teaches, in fact, that nothing rots without feeding what comes after — and has no patience for anyone who clings past their season. Her rare favors go to those willing to release something before it's taken from them.
