Deep within the eastern jungles, on the outskirts of Rathneros, Kingdom of Dragons, lives a collective race of proud, highly intelligent and incredibly deadly warriors...the Shadowscale Clan, the Yuan-ti of Credo.
In Vrael Thanzil, the jungle dwellings of the Shadowscale, the Yuan-ti there live lives as devout worshippers of Sseth the Serpent God.
The Shadowscale clan, repulsed by all of mankind, found refuge in the ancient lands of dragons to the East...however it would be through the wages of war that they would earn their keep...
Legend claims that upon entering the lands they were encountered by the ancient bronze dragon Kogora, Sentinel of the Golden King. In this exchange the Shadowscale stood ready to fight to the last for their chance at a new home for their future broods. Kogora, impressed by their might, offered them a deal. Stand with the Dragons against the other kingdoms in the clash of the Great War, and they would become honored guests in the Tropics of Rathneros, and protected by the Bronze Dragons of the region.
Eager to prove their strength and even more so to oppose the humans that gave them cause to flee their lands, relished at the opportunity. And so, an ancient alliance was struck and unlikely allies fought fang and claw against the kingdoms of Credo until the clash of the Four Flames rendered the battlefield to ash…
The deal was honored, and the Shadowscale now live amongst the tropical jungles with the coastal dwellings of the bronze dragons nearby. They train, they worship and they sacrifice in the name of their God and in honorable tribute for whenever a bronze dragon is born or when one dies.

While all of Yuan ti society worship Sseth the Serpent God, the fate of one unfortunate Yuan ti whose family found them unfit and unworthy led to them being cast away from their home, from their people and from their God. However, there is another Serpent deity...a goddess of nightshade and scales so black they consume the light. A Serpent of the Night's whispering dark that seeks the souls of the forlorn and abandoned... and offers them her sweet embrace. Her name is Denari, and for this forlorn Malison without a home, she offers them a deal.
