[Midday] The story begins with a dream within a dream. Rokit Piro first dreams of sitting on a rock in a forest. He is then confronted by 'unknown forces' and questioned on his allegiance. The confrontation gets heated, but is interrupted by an attacking dragon. Rokit flees, and is eventually saved by Lydia Demi. After thanking her, Rokit realizes those 'unknown forces' were headed towards his town. Lydia's Dragon 'Gems' glows as Rokit runs off.
When Rokit reaches the town, he notices someone in trouble and leaps into action to assist them. After the combat tutorial, Rokit notices the person has disappeared. The scene starts to distort, and Seles Omina appears for a moment. Rokit notices her but as the scene returns to normal, he is confronted by more enemies. (In this moment, the larger world is hinted at; as this is also a moment from the past.) Rokit is knocked unconscious after the battle, win or lose.
[Sunset] Rokit awakens in a forest as a younger version of himself. He describes the dream to Zaine Rafaga and asks him what happened. Zaine reminds Rokit how he was knocked out and that they should return to the village before dark. When Zaine mentions Rokit's father, Rokit questions the notion. In a flash, Zaine vanishes and Rok Piro is standing in his place.
Rok: "My son, we must return.." ("..to what we once were.")
As Rok walks off, Rokit begins to respond, but stops himself realizing Zaine has gone. When questioning this, Rokit is met with a response of a different tone.
???(Raine Piro)???: "Poor boy.."
Rokit runs after his father.
[Night] In the next scene, a dark winged figure stands in front of a burning Acire Village. As Rokit approaches the shadowy figure, the entity slowly turns before dashing at him like a bat out of hell.
Rokit of present day awakens panting, but realizes it was all a dream. He steps out onto his room balcony to see that the village is still in tact before taking a short gaze at the moon, and then heading back inside.
In the morning, Rokit is awoken by Alset Chizpa for breakfast. Downstairs he is met by Zaine who joins them for their meal. Soon enters Ophcet Chizpa who is starving from working the fields. He tells Rokit that he's lucky because he gets to go on a adventure now instead of farming and training. Today Rokit has been summoned to Pyre Keep for the first time since being sent away as a child. Accompanying him on his journey is Zaine, who also has business there; and Alset, whom Ophset sends to gain new experiences; if she is to ever become a Dragoon.

⫸ Alset Joins In Acire: Ensures the Storm/Electric/Volt dragoon is in your arsenal earlier; She teaches Rok a useful new ability early on in Pyre Keep; Eventually gives Rok an enchanted gift from her father. Admires Rok for bringing her along.
⫸ Alset Joins at Champion Trials: She resents Rok for leaving her. You can only gain the ability she teaches if you defeat her in an optional challenge.
Upon arriving at Pyre Keep, Rokit is met by unwelcoming guards who are reluctant to believe who he is. Zaine interjects in the most regal Ahngean manner possible, which causes the guards to step aside.
Raine: "Rokit, my boy.."
Zaine questions Raine about the unwelcoming guards. Raine replies that everyone is on edge as he believes someone is conspiring against him. After a short welcome home, Raine tasks Rokit with dealing with a hooded Beastmaster in a nearby forest. Raine states that the hooded figure has been giving them trouble, and has even managed to enter the keep a number of times. (Raine knows the hooded figure is searching for something.) Rokit questions why she keeps returning after escaping death so many times, and Raine brushes it off. Zaine brings up the question about his father's whereabouts that brought him all this way, which causes Raine to pause. He stands, and then sits thinking before sending them away.
After the meeting with Raine, Alset notes how cold he was toward Rok. Rokit defends Raine as he believes him to be his father.
Zaine & Alset accompany Rokit to the forest and stumble upon a camping ground. They are then attacked by their first boss monster. Upon defeating the berserk creature they are met by the hooded figure Acire.
