The Hand of Fate, or The Hand as it is more commonly known, is a guild of power brokers who are ultimately in the business of trying to shape the balance of power in Eressea. The guild specializes in assassins, spies, and social manipulation. The Hand regularly contracts outside mercenaries to help and promising individuals may be recruited to full membership.
Numerous influential people across the continent affiliated with (or controlled by) the guild.
Few within guild know anything about higher echelons of the guild, but are attracted by good pay, chance to influence the world (lots of "good people" working with/for them)
The Tenets
To achieve full membership in the organization, apprentices must swear their loyalty to the guiding principles of the Hand. The tenets are as follows:
- Never betray the Hand of Fate
- The blood of the innocent must only be spilled as a last resort
- Complete the job, or die trying

Organization
Mission details are given to members of the guild through their guild issued Sending Stones. A group of mysterious operators sends and receives all communication through the the stones. Some messages to the operators are ignored.
The leader of the Hand is known as the Voice. The secrecy of the Voice's identity has been maintained throughout the history of the organization.
