Elves

Elves, a magical and ethereal people, possess a grace that sets them apart, making them both dwellers of the world and yet distant from it. Their homes are adorned with ethereal beauty, whether nestled within ancient forests or perched atop silvery spires shimmering with faerie light. Soft melodies float through the air, accompanied by gentle fragrances carried by the breeze. Elves are deeply connected to nature and magic, finding solace and joy in artistry, music, poetry, and all the splendors the world has to offer.

Their unearthly beauty captivates humans and various other races. Slightly taller than the average human, elves stand above 6 feet, but their frames are more slender, weighing between 120 to 160 pounds. Males and females share a similar height, with males only marginally heavier than their female counterparts. The array of elven coloration encompasses the human norm, yet includes skin tones ranging from copper and bronze to an almost bluish-white. Their hair comes in hues of green or blue, while their eyes resemble pools of liquid gold or silver. Elves typically lack facial hair and have minimal body hair. They adore elegant attire in vibrant shades, complemented by simple yet exquisite jewelry.

Elves' lifespan extends well over 350 years, granting them an unparalleled perspective on events that might deeply trouble shorter-lived races. Amusement often takes precedence over excitement, and curiosity outweighs greed. They maintain a certain aloofness and composure in the face of petty occurrences. However, when pursuing a goal, whether on an adventurous quest or mastering a new skill, elves become resolute and relentless. They are deliberate in forming both friendships and enmities, and their memories are enduring. Petty insults are met with disdain, while serious insults invite swift vengeance. Like young tree branches, elves are flexible when confronted with danger, opting for diplomacy and compromise to resolve conflicts before resorting to violence. When forced into action, they unveil a stern martial side, exhibiting skill with swords, bows, and strategic planning.

The majority of elves reside in secluded forest villages hidden within their homeland, Al Aron. There, they hunt, gather food, and cultivate vegetables, employing their magical prowess to sustain themselves without resorting to land clearing or plowing. Gifted artisans, they create finely crafted garments and art objects. Their interactions with outsiders are typically limited, though a few elves earn a living through trade, exchanging their masterpieces for metals, as they have no inclination for mining. Outside their own domains, elves are often encountered as traveling minstrels, artists, or sages. Human nobles eagerly seek elf instructors to teach their children the arts of swordplay and magic.

Elves are drawn to adventuring by their insatiable wanderlust. With their extensive lifespans, they relish centuries of exploration and discovery. The regimented pace of human society, while ever-changing over decades, fails to satisfy their desire for freedom, leading them to pursue careers that allow them to travel and set their own tempo. They find joy in honing their martial skills and expanding their magical prowess, and adventuring provides the perfect avenue for such pursuits. Some elves align themselves with rebels fighting oppression, while others become champions of moral causes, using their abilities to bring about positive change in the world.
