The foxes of the spirit plane are a tribal nomadic community who deal mostly in herding and scavenging. Normally, you won't even ever encounter them even if they pass you from nearby as they keep to themselves. They are distrustful about outsiders and very combat-oriented, not due to necessity of life per se, but because that is how their ancestors lived and is part of tradition. Tradition to shape powerful warriors that could take down combat groups many times their own.

For this reason they have been trained in the use of various armour types and tools of war that include: Swords, Shields, Staves, Spears, Throwing Knives, Blowpipes, Slingshots, Halberds, Maces, Bows, Battle Gauntlets, Hand-to-Hand, and Explosives. One for each of the weapon star constellations.

Any life skills that would be needed in the tribe - can be done by any of its members, for if one would die of sickness, in combat or worse, captured, then another would need to fill in for the lost member.

Aside from combat and many survival skills, they are also well-versed in various languages and use this knowledge to raid tombs, catacombs, burial sites and other ancient ruins. This is to ensure that they find wealth, but most importantly: powerful artifacts. With these artifacts, they can protect themselves from the evils of the past that still haunt them, and protect the future by being able to empower their warriors to hide or repel those who would wish them harm in the present.

For this reason, they traditionally have two members of the tribe to pass down the knowledge of their forefathers. Only a few books could be recorded - for that would drag them down and they couldn't even if they wanted to as the materials were too scarce. But as one would grow in spirituality and mentally, they would often have improved memory and lifespan. This way the tribe always has at least two people who are basically living encyclopedias - typically those would be the tribe sage and tribe leader. For one needs to be wise and knowledgeable to lead - among other things.

The reason silver fur is worshipped, as if the tribe was a bloodline cult, is because those who inhibit that trait were often gifted by the spirits to have more able bodies. Better memory and faster adaptability. Stronger and nimbler muscles. There was also a high chance for them to grow to 8th tail and awaken spiritually.

As a young cub is born, they are taught non-combat related skills such as herding, starting fires, concealing said fires, concealing and finding tracks, camouflage, setting up tents, tanning leather, etc. Every job in the tribe that isn't combat and is related to their natural senses.

When they are reaching their 5th birthday, they are handed their first weapon. Typically this will be the weapon they specialize in more than any other weapon - but this is not strictly so. And so they get to train all 13 war tools as per the stars of the weapons.

Additionally, each weapon constellation has been noted to have various traits that training these will develop.

Training and improving your skills never stops. The spirit foxes are highly cooperative and will help each other grow.

As one reaches puberty, their spiritual energies change and that's when the elder with the highest spiritual sense takes them to the coming of age trial. There, they have to survive in treacherous terrain with hard to survive conditions for 6 days before commencing a real hunt. There, a fox of similar age will have to evade, hide their tracks, use traps and whatever tactics they can to not get caught by the hunter. If the hunter fails, they are not granted a full mantra awakening ritual that comes afterwards. Otherwise they will go through the mantra awakening in full.

During the Mantra awakening, the fox is hypnotized and told a mantra that will help them gain a 'whole' spirit, should they follow it. By this point, the elders and everyone around the fox have properly assessed what kind of developments the fox has had thus far and what they're really like. As such, the mantra is formed of wisdom that would help the fox to fill the gaps they have currently, but it will take a lot of time due to already formed habits. They will need to develop a more balanced spirit.

For a Mantra to allow a person to gain a 'whole' spirit, there are some requirements. Plenty of foxes have received their mantras, but not well guided enough to actually help them become whole. Or had misunderstood the driving forces behind the fox's actions and as a result gave misguided guidance. A Mantra is to complement the fox's already developed character - to complete it. To help them reach inner peace. Only after achieving inner peace can one focus enough to sense their spirit, after all. Usually it would contain wise proverbs or insights and philosophical content to help the fox fulfill themselves as a person.

There are records of spirit wielding foxes who could achieve the same through developing their deceit or violence, who are known as Vengeful Spirit Foxes or Demons. However, due to their overbearing development of spirit in just one direction, they are unable to balance their spirit and as such their abilities are unpredictable, unstable and hard to control. They are most common to have overbearing destructive abilities that lash out of control and are indiscriminate - harming their wielder, allies and enemies alike.

Some deceitful foxes would become trapped in their own illusory world, being unable to come out of it, and as such warp their surrounding area without ever realizing it. One well recorded incident of this involved a younger fox who grew discontent and envious of their sister. As a result, their character developed bitter and deceitful to the point where their spiritual power started leaking from the seal. Eventually, the house of the whole family was enveloped in their power and would become a distorted space, where anything living would mutate and get disfigured until it died.

Another incident involved a fox who was not talented. But they had grown ruthless in combat out of contempt. Seeing improvements in their ability for combat as a result drove them to become increasingly violent. Dissatisfied with everyone, their destructive nature began leaking from the seal until they killed their tribe. They extinguished many years later due to their power going out of control, resulting in a devastating poisonous swamp. Even now, going there will result in death.

For these reasons, the environment the foxes grow up in has to be incredibly closely monitored and controlled. Now, issues like these can be nipped in the bud, but all of this has been learnt from great sacrifices. The grieving, distressed parents and victims from these children. The educational system has been developed in a particular way for this very reason, but parents might have to come to terms with their child being put down, if the education system and their teachings have failed them. As such, it must be emphasized once more, that the monitoring and controlled environment for these children is tantamount.

From here on out, the fox can develop more than four or more tails. Usually foxes with higher spirituality do not develop all three tails by this point, but it could also be a developmental issue - so those who are lagging behind in that sense have it worse than others when it comes to training intensity. In the case of those with higher spirituality, it will increase their work-ethic and help them put in the hard work that they will need in the future, in the case of those who are just lagging behind, they would generally catch up to the rest.

After the mantra awakening, the seal that was placed on spirit foxes is bypassed with the hypnotism technique and they can begin developing their tails. A fox has never developed a physical sense of spirituality before developing to eight tails, but it becomes increasingly difficult to grow more tails as it depends on your ability to grow, learn and survive.

When a fox develops eight tails, it is not guaranteed for them to become able to physically sense spirit. But that's when their body has developed enough to support it as long as their spirit has developed enough as well. It would not be possible to gain nine tails unless one has developed a sense for spirituality, however.

As a fox becomes able to sense their spirituality physically, they will be able to begin training to put their spirit into their actions. This could be expressed in many ways, but by far the most common is to speak one's will into becoming reality. If one spoke of a tree lighting ablaze, it would light ablaze. If one spoke of a relentless gust of wind forming, they could speak it into being. Doing so requires immense discipline and having an unspeakable amount of practice in shaping one's own spirit. And one could not wield it lightly. Imagine as if you were to tear a piece of your soul without damaging the whole to make it happen, and you can vaguely grasp the amount of precision and care one would need for it to succeed without repercussions.

Spirit Fox tribes are known to have their own language that has been passed down from ancient eras almost unchanged. It is unknown how long the eldest of their kin could live, but usually they die from combat in a few centuries time. But thanks to this long lifespan that some of the foxes live up to, they have mastered the language of their spirit. As such, the older a Spirit Fox is, the more likely it is that they speak their own language amongst their kin and not any common languages that they have learnt.

However, some things change over time. And some of what was described has been left in the past. Time passes. Generations of Kitsune have lived and grown more accustomed to their condition over time. As their spirituality adapted to the seal, it became more difficult to use their spirit, but in return their bodies would no longer self-destruct at a young age. However, the Kitsune also began regressing in their spiritual knowledge over time, as it was no longer necessary to keep up the hard gruelling work that the Kitsune in the past were subjected to, which led to ignorance in their spiritual origins and folklore. Led to the shutting away of their spirit.
