A New, Peaceful Home
Far below the frozen mountains where the ruins of Hopestone now lies, Is a vibrant and living land that holds a town that only few know of.
Wishwood is the current home of the dwarves and other residents of Hopestone, having escaped long before the Hopestone Horde Ambush of 8/5/21, 2nd age of Astoris. The main purpose of Wishwood after these events is be invisible to the rest of the world, so that the tyrant's reign of power would not destroy this no haven. Many origins live here in peace, growing pumpkins, beetroot, and wheat. Within the town resides The Misty Meadows Tavern, well known for it's distillation and sell of rum and pumpkin pies.
The Arcane Tower
In the center of the town is a grand birch wood tower, the center of arcana within Wishwood. Though scholars practice their magic arts within the tower throughout its many levels, the true purpose of the tower is to project a 1000-meter circular field across the lands, with the tower being the focus (center) of the field. Four smaller towers placed 500 meters away from the main tower help to magnify and concentrate the field, keeping it stable and always functioning.
The purpose of the field itself (which I will call barrier from now on) is a bit complex but fairly easy to explain. Anyone that enters the barrier without any prior knowledge on the existence of Wishwood, can easily pass through the barrier and towards the town without issue. However, if someone with prior knowledge of Wishwood were to enter the barrier, the spell creating it would take effect. environmental and spatial illusions will form to confuse the person, making it seem as if they passed through the barrier when in reality they'll only be moving in circles outside. Eventually the person will give up and walk away, having never entered the barrier or the region within. Within the tower there is a whitelist of people (including all residents of Wishwood) that can leave and enter the barrier without being affected by it. This allows the town to trade with the outside world without bringing unwanted visitors within.
There are flaws to the barrier and it's originating spell, however. Powerful beings such as gods can visually see the barrier and can force themselves through it out if sheer power. Spectral beings such as spirits or ghosts are also unaffected. If someone were to destroy all four smaller towers around Wishwood, the barrier's power would greatly diminish and possibly fall apart. The barrier can also be turned off from within the tower itself, and this has been done on one occasion to replace the barrier spell with a teleportation spell to forcefully remove a dangerous visitor from Wishwood, back to wherever they call home.
An Old Friend
Permanently residing within Wishwood is the once ambassador of Hopestone, and now sage of Wishwood. Vincentius Calatinus, better known by his adopted nickname of 'Obi', is a dweorvin turned dwarf that arrived at the continent of Ahrrokohn during the Age of Absconding, wherein many dweorvin refugees escaped the tyranny within their home continent of Orhimond, there after declaring themselves dwarves as to separate themselves from their homeland kin. Now the dwarf resides in Wishwood, watching over the inner workings of the arcane tower, as well as taking in the peaceful environment that he and many others worked towards creating. Though his heart hosts sadness for friends lost to the evils of the world, he still finds a smile and always tries to fill the hearts of others with joy.
During the late 2nd age of Astoris, Obi is recorded to have been 190 years old.
During the early 3rd age of Astoris, Obi is recorded to have been 347 years old.
During the mid 3rd age of Astoris, Obi had been deceased for 143 years, and his monument is held within both Wishwood and Nightingale City
