In some rare cases kobold eggs are colored with metallic and chromatic hues. These winged kobolds are seen as favored by draconic deities, making them both revered and feared by their peers. The winged kobold is a sub-ancestry of kobolds. What makes them unique from their common cousins is that they have leathery dragon-like wings sprouting from their backs. Most winged kobolds go on to become leaders of their tribes or lead armies as generals.

It is possible, though incredibly rare, for a kobold to be born with wings that don't grow large enough to take flight. They are often referred to in derogatory terms such as "stubs" and struggle socially in close knit kobold societies. They often fall victim of great ridicule due to this and often desperately isolate themselves away from other kobolds.

  • Wings. You have leathery dragon-like wings which allow you to fly, you gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed.

Notes

Kobolds born with wing stubs were often driven into isolation and forced to find their own path in life, providing interesting roleplaying opportunities. Your quest for flight or acceptance in the inability of flight could be an interesting plot to explore. If you want to play a wingless winged kobold, you can just take the normal kobold stats, discuss with your DM what aspects of your character you would like to explore.
