Seld was given the Unknown by Greycoat (Shier'Tal), and he asked Quoth the Raven to stay with her until 'the end'.
She did, however, tell Grey that his mother had never forgotten him, and loved and fought for him until her demise.
Quoth returned from Raven's Folly a few days later, without the dagger, and with news that Seld was gone.
