14 - Feast of the Dead

Session 14
December 9, 2020

The next morning we head into town to interview the townsfolk and follow up on the attack by the Yule Cat. Zee (Zameia) Dusk wanders about looking for pawprints in the snow, while a tea-hangry Rascar is told to seek out the herbalist Benedict Youngman, an old elf who owns the Apothecary Tea Shop; he serves us some Unknown and advises us he believes the Yule Cat is a Fey- or Unknown-related beast, as it doesn't seem to attack elfin folk. Huski also stealthily buys some Unknown from himZee uses sleight of hand to rearrange his many books.

Greycoat, meanwhile, is intrigued by Potion of Love, buying it – probably intending to maybe let Ashkeet sample some along with some other herbs, for 10 gold.

Esta, Edmonds sister, who expands upon the ancient Elven myths she and her brother grew up with (which he believes, and she doesn’t so much). She talks about a local fairy-tale or rhyme where children must wear the nightgowns they received as Dawnwinter gifts.

Yellow Jade Cicada Red & White Stone of unknown properties. Winter Coat, Fancy; the others upgrade their winter-ready attire, and Falk the missing tailors dishevelled house; the door has been broken in and the Cat has damaged the roof. (Raine sees something at the edge of the forest but the party stay together looking for the cat. There is a sudden thump on the roof of the tailor's house. Raine jumps up and finds a mark in the snow where she finds some footprints. The party head into the snowy perimeter of the town as they chase shadows. Suddenly Witch's Ritual Cave under the old bridge.

Zee (Zameia) Dusk leaves a picture of Neph's tattoo so they can find the cave later. The door however is iced over and is impossible to open.

Once inside, there are faces in the walls that seem to whisper to us, which we investigate timidly; deeper inside is a table laden with an impossibly fresh, sumptuous feast. Sat around the table is a long-dead Unknown assortment, clad in armours from a mix of ancient cultures, some recognisable, some not.

Psychic Flame Dagger so as not to touch anything of the scene physically, and tries to skewer an apple with it.

The skeletons immediately spring to life, and with two of our party missing, we fight them off as best we can… although Raine brutalises the skeletons, while Zee supports and tries frantically to keep everyone in one piece.

We finally limp onward, Greycoat being heavily chastised, to eventually find Huski and Rascar unconscious in a secreted-away cell, presumably having been taken there by the Yule Cat.
