Minotaur

Monstrosity

Minotaurs are large, bull-like humanoids that are found both on Khorvaire and Xen'drik, in spread out small clans. It's not known where they came from originally, or how they got to both continents. The largest concentration of Minotaurs on Khorvaire is in Droaam.

Minotaurs live in clans, and the clans of Droaam are spread out across the barrens. They are large, powerful creatures, and they did well in the barrens, a land that respects both size and strength. In the modern day, after the formation of Droaam, the minotaurs are still one of the more aggressive denizens of the fledgling nation, and most of the raids on territory both in Droaam and in neighbouring countries are led by minotaur warlords. The only thing that prevented the minotaurs from becoming a major power on Khorvaire was the long, destructive feuds between the clans themselves.

Minotaurs are possessed of a supernatural cunning that allows them to always know where they are, they never get lost, and they can always find their way back to somewhere they have been before. It's not certain where this power comes from, but the medusas of Cazhaak Draal would say that it is a gift granted by the Shadow.

The minotaur clans believe that they are the chosen people of a being they collectively know as the Horned Prince, and they aspire to live their lives in the way that the Horned Prince wants them to, so that they might join the Prince after they die. Each clan has their own private name for the Horned Prince, and their own beliefs and interpretations about the conduct that the Prince expects of them. For most of the clans, the Horned Prince seems to be an analogue of the overlord Tol Kharash, the Horned King, a being that desires only war and bloodshed. However, this isn't true of all of the clans.

In particular, the Dawn Harvest were a clan whose version of the Prince, whom they knew as the Dawn Gorer, encouraged them to fight with honour and to defend those who can't defend themselves, two traits that are rarely seen in Droaam. Unfortunately, the Dawn Harvest were destroyed after refusing to accept Rhesh Turakbar as the warlord of their region.

The minotaurs of Droaam are a fierce and brave people, but they are concerned chiefly with personal glory. The Horned Prince doesn't reward the clan for embodying it's virtues, the Prince rewards the individual minotaur. They are passionate and feel their emotions fully, but they generally lack patience.
