Szala Jal is an Oni Spellsmith, who has spent years training and focusing her magical abilities to create enchanted weapons and armour. She owns and runs a large blacksmithing shop in Graywall named Tooth and Steel, aided by her minotaur and shifter assistants. Whilst the Karda Forge in Graywall generally outfits the Flayer Guard, Szala is more capable at producing magical armaments than the goblins of the Karda Forge and so is occasionally hired by Xor'chylic to produce magical items.
Most of the equipment produced in Tooth and Steel is made by Szala's assistants, who make weapons and armour for creatures of all sizes. Szala Jal's own creations are masterpieces, each and every one of them. She can spend years on each piece of equipment, imbuing them with magical power, and the weapons she produces are possibly some of the most powerful magical weapons in Khorvaire.
Like most of the Oni on Khorvaire, Szala Jal is an immigrant from Sarlona. She traveled to Khorvaire via Khyber, years before the exodus led by Tzaryan Rrac, and found her way to what would eventually become Droaam.
