Malevanor is one of the most public martyrs of the Blood of Vol and is the High Priest of Atur. His predecessor was a Mummy named Askalor, who held the position for over 400 years and had grown weary of existence. When Malevanor was mortally wounded during the Last War, Askalor chose to bestow his undead power into Malevanor and give up his own life.
Malevanor would rather spend his time researching and never really held aspirations of becoming the High Priest. However, his age and experience, as well as his position as a martyr of the faith meant that the people chose him, and he reluctantly acquiesced. Despite his reluctance, many consider him to be a spiritual leader and expert in the faith.
Malevanor has been the subject of much debate, both within the Seeker community and those with an interest in it. Seekers believe that the Divinity Within is tied to the blood and soul, and that undead do not have this divine spark. This is what makes a martyr of the faith a martyr, they have given up their chance at divinity. This raises the question, however, of how exactly it is that Malevanor can channel divine magic and cast miracles. Malevanor claims that he channels the divinity within of the faithful, and it is their faith in him that allows him to perform these miracles.
