The halflings of the Talenta Plains believe that the world is infused with spirits, from spirits of nature to the spirits of their ancestors, and any number of other spirits. Each tribe has at least one Maskweaver, a druid who spiritually guides the tribe and serves as an intermediary between the tribe and the spirits. The maskweavers help the people of the plains to bond with their dinosaurs, and aid them in creating the masks that bind the Talentans to their animals and reunite them after death. It is the crafting of these masks that the Maskweavers derive the name of their tradition.
The Maskweavers fill other important roles within their tribes, also healing the injured and treating the ill, and they are often responsible for training the various animals that the Talentan tribes depend on. They also serve as diplomats, tying the tribes to each other and to the spirits of the world, and they act as storytellers and orally record the history of the tribes and pass them down to the next generation. Like the Greensingers, the Talentan Maskweavers often interact with the fey, but unlike the Greensingers, the maskweavers observe no distinction between fey and other spirits, they are all part of the spirit world and they should all be treated with respect.
The traditions of the Talentan Maskweavers developed entirely separately from those of the Eldeen Reaches, and they are not an offshoot of the Gatekeepers. Until very recently, many maskweavers had never had cause to interact with the Wardens of the Wood or the other sects present in the Reaches, and likely didn't know they existed.
