Upper Tavick's Landing

Ward

Upper Tavick's Landing is an extremely wealthy ward in Sharn, with upper class residential areas and business centers. In many ways, it is it's own miniature city within Sharn, as the wealthy residents and merchants have spent considerable effort to isolate it from the rest of the city. Not only is it materially much wealthier than much of Sharn, the ward has its own localised laws implemented during the Last War after concerns that the district was in danger due to the amount of people moving through the lower city.

House Deneith has a significant presence within Upper Tavick's Landing, and thanks to the residents petitioning the city council, they act as law enforcement in an official capacity and have equal authority to the Sharn Watch within the ward. Deneith soldiers maintain checkpoints at every entrance to the district.

  • A license is required to carry a weapon within the ward, which can be acquired at the courthouse in Twelve Pillars (a district within Upper Tavick's Landing) for a fee, though the application process is quite lengthy. Any member of the Watch or House Deneith can ask to see a license for carried weapons, and will confiscate any unauthorised armaments if one cannot be provided.
  • A different license is required to cast spells within the district, and acquiring one involves specifying exactly which spells you intend to cast and why, and unauthorised spellcasting incurs a fine, usually 50gp per spell level of the spell cast.
  • The district also features a dress code, those traveling through it are required to dress in such as way "as upholds the dignity of the ward". This is largely left up to the interpretation of the individual Watch officer or House Deneith agent, and armour is generally frowned upon unless someone is a member of the Watch or the house.
  • "Unruly behaviour", including but not limited to fighting, shouting, and generally being rude, incurs a fine of 5 gp and temporary expulsion from the ward.
