Climate
The Highlands feature rolling hills and rugged terrain, with moss and grass-covered valleys and towering mountains capped in snow. Winters can be cold, with snowfall, while summers are generally wet and rainy.
Cultural Highlights
- Pride and Resilience: Highlanders are a proud, resilient people, often contrasting themselves with people from the Lowlands, whom they see as soft and ungrateful for their fertile lands.
- Blue Tattoo Tradition: The blue tattoo custom, once believed to be common, is now mostly preserved by the old nobility. The tattoos mark parental achievements, using dye derived from the Bluespire Root, a plant native to the region's rocky valleys, and poisonous if handled incorrectly.
History
The Highlands are believed to once be home to various giant kingdoms. During the Conflux, their vast underground network collapsed, opening easier access to the Underdark. With most of the Giant kingdoms in ruin, the Ancients took control, and the region has been shaped by their legacy ever since.
