Captain Bainsfield is a disgraced former Guard Captain from Baldur's Gate. As part of the Flaming Fists, he had investigated crimes and took a large amount of bribes to sink into his growing debts. He left the city and spends most of his time doing odd jobs in Athkatla or getting drunk in The Bag o' Nails.
