A Fresh Start

Personal Lore

Somewhere not in this Dimension, in a large courtyard

She was double checking the chalk around the altar when she hears one of her sister's voices "Aren't you done yet? The Ritual starts in 10 minutes Celeste"

She ignores the voice and continues to walk around the circle making sure everything was perfect. Tonight was hers and the other young one's Induction Night. The summoning for a familiar had to be *perfect*. She will not stand for it not to be.

Finishing her round of the circle she stands and looks at the voice from before "I was just doing a last minute check Irene. I want this to be perfect, I want to meet my familiar properly"

Irene snorts and looks at the circle "You failed so badly last year Celeste, what makes you feel like you will succeed this year?"

Her tail bristles "I was *sick* last year! It wasn't my fault! I could hardly stand, let alone do a Ritual as Mistress and Master wanted!"

Irene just tsk's at her and turns to walk away "That's your own failing now, isn't it? You should have tried harder to do it properly the first time"

She clenches her fist, her claws digging into her palm and the chalk in her hand becoming bloody

She closes her eyes and sighs, relaxing her hand and putting her chalk back in one of her waist pouches, rubbing the spots of blood on her pants

"Nothing will go wrong tonight. Nothing"

Later that night

She was almost done chanting, the circle to summon her familiar was glowing brightly, the ground opening up into a deep chasm when she suddenly felt something sharp hit her back and warmth spread over her

Stumbling, she cuts her words off, looking behind her she sees a sea of cloaked figures and the glint of a throwing knife being put away from one of them

She falls into the ritual circle, tumbling down into the chasm, a trail of blood floating behind her and she screams

A Forest somewhere

A pale figure lays on the forest floor, a pool of blood surrounding her form, staining her fur red

If you look closely, she is breathing slowly and there seems to be a mint butterfly nestled into her hair, almost looking like a decoration if not for the wings folding every now and then
