1.5 years before arriving in Haven - Unknown Location
It was a normal Tuesday like any other, Mimi and her mom were in the living room folding laundry while dad was taking the dog for a walk. They were only about halfway through the laundry when the front door opened and they heard footsteps and barking.
“Daddy? You guys are home early. Did Loola get into trouble?” Her ears perk up listening for an answer. All she hears is the door slam and more barking before finally, she hears her dad’s voice “Stay in the living room”
Mom frowns her ears twitching as she looks towards the front of the house, she leans over and whispers “Mimosa, put the laundry down and hide- something is wrong”
She frowns at her mother, straining her ears to hear, but all she can hear is barking and then snapping as her mother snaps her fingers at her “O-ok”
She stands and looks around, there are not many places to hide in the den, and the only exit was down the hall, past wherever daddy was. Pressed against the wall was a high table with books on it, and in front of that was a couch, she went over to there and squeezed under the skinny table and strained her hearing to find out what was happening.
The rustle of clothing being folded and barking was all she could hear for a few minutes before she heard her mother gasp “Who are you? What are you doing here?”
She heard a man's voice “Tay here owes us money… and he’s past his extension. I’ve come to collect on his lack of payment to us”
Shuffling and a barked “Stay seated or I slit his throat right now!” a soft thump, walking and then a louder thump and a muffled groan of pain her mom whispering.
“Stay still while I tie you up woman or I’ll do worse to you than I planned” whimpers and the sound of rope tying, the whimpers being muffled and another thump and a muffled cry of pain.
“Now.. I know Tay had a daughter.. I heard her when we got here and there's only 1 exit from your home. Come out come out little rabbit~!” the sound of the chairs being flipped over, glass shattering as it hits the coffee table, footsteps getting closer, and then the couch she's hiding behind moving- she bolts and runs for the door.
“There you are! Run Rabbit, Run Rabbit Run Run Run~” The sing song tone makes her want to run faster- she takes the turns in the house so fast she slides into walls, before finally, she slams into the front door, or where the front door is supposed to be. The entry dresser is blocking the way and she turns to see the man- the human at the end of the hall.
She's cornered, nowhere to run while the name smiles at her and taps a knife on his leg. Her eyes dart around hoping to see an exit, something she can use, anything but nothing is there. She clenches her fists and crouches, readying to sprint past the man as he keeps approaching her.
“Come little rabbit, nothing to fear right now… be a good girl for me and I’ll let you live” the smile on his face makes her stomach twist and she bares her teeth at him and lunges to go past him and keep running-
His hands snake out quicker than she expected and close around her ears- halting her immediately as she cries out in pain, her hands going up to try and pry his off “Let me go! I promise I won’t say anything- Please” she’s crying now, struggling to get free of his grasp.
“Tsk tsk little rabbit… if only you had listened you would have lived…” he starts walking further into the house, back towards the living room, dragging her by the ears as she cries. Finally getting back to the living room he throws her on the ground “Don’t you dare move rabbit”
She lays there crying, her hands over her ears, rubbing over them, trying to soothe the pain while she hears the man rummage around before seeing him come stand in front of her again. She looks up at him, and then over to her parents, both tied up and gagged as well, crying on the other side of the room.
“Good girl~! Now just sit still for me while I tie you up” he moves behind her and yanks her arms backward, tying the wrists together before he reaches around and shoves some socks in her mouth, muffling her crying.
“Now…” he goes over and drags her father into a sitting position “sit here for me”. He then grabs her mother and drags her to the center of the room, making sure he could be seen by both her and her father, he brings the knife to her mother's neck and slices straight across, blood spraying across the room while he drops her body on the floor again.
She screams and backs up towards the wall, feet and back scraping across the broken glass strewn along the floor as the man starts heading towards her “Come now little rabbit… be still for me” he grins down at her and his hands come down and grip her hair, hulling her to the center of the room while he steps behind her.
She’s staring at her father, watching him cry, not even struggling to get free to help her while she feels the sharp edge of the knife dig into her neck “Say goodbye little rabbit~”. Pain explodes on her neck as she tries to gasp for air around the gag in her mouth. He pushes her body to the floor and she lands on her side, still able to see her father as the man goes over to him.
“Now.. none of this would have happened if you had just paid us when we asked Tay. Enjoy the afterlife, may the Gods be kind to you” he slices her father's throat, letting him fall to the floor and giving him a kick before leaving the room.
She stares at her father's body, the only sound in the house Loola barking for a long time. She feels dizzy and her eyes slip shut, the last thing she hears is a loud bang and a rush of feet as people enter the house before everything goes black.
