No one knows why and no one really talks about it, but all undead feel a slight pull to the south. As they grow tired of living in the world of the living they often leave to go on a pilgrimage to the west. Where they go and why they do not come back is unknown. It is just a laten desire to go west, that overtakes them at some point. For some this is right away, for others if might be 100's of years after they are reborn.
The immortuos come from ritual, dark rituals that bring back the dead. These rituals are illegal to do or even to study in most of Alcott. No one ever admits to doing it. All Immortuos have no memory of their previous life. They almost always wake up in a coffins and must fight their way to freedom.
Physical Description
An immortuos resembles the race they once belonged to. At second glance one will find there is something off about them. Their eyes are dull and glazed over, their skin pale and pulled taut over their skeletal frame. Immortuos are undead and as such the body does not grow older.
History
Immortuos are corpses restored to life. No one truly knows the process that returns the soul back to the undead person. There are many cultist-like rituals and dark pacts that claim to create the Immortous, but none seem to work reliably. While their bodies are restored, their memories are fragmented and their touch with death has left them forever changed.
Society
It is not illegal to be an immortous, but they are often killed, and no one cares. Most people see them as being evil. They try and keep their immortous hidden. They keep to their own as they can and mask themselves as they move into the living world.
Personality
Immortuos, newly revived ones, in particular, are driven by instinct and are skittish and slow to trust. It is entirely possible for an individual to have suffered enough brain damage to the prefrontal cortex to render them unable to feel or express emotion properly. These immortuos are often impulsive and unable to make proper decisions. Adopting one into an adventuring party may prove to be difficult, though rewarding as their sharp teeth, claws and a strong sense of self-preservation make them formidable fighters until the very end. Having massive gaps in your memories of the past sends many immortuos into an identity crisis. If left unresolved, this can be devastating for their psyche. Some immortuos choose to adopt a new identity entirely which is often stolen from someone else or made up from stories they have heard after their revival. It is also argued that a soul being ripped away from the afterlife to be put back into its old body may prove to be traumatic to the immortuos.
