Rain collapsed again. Pakku’s flying horse hit some top to the walls around the Thir-king. Oni ran his hand along the magic wall as he ran over to his fallen old friend. He pumped the Dawnfather’s healing light into the watery form of Rain. He connected but was feeling discontent with the tests to his will and body. He watched the last of the Yavapi fall from the far side of the invisible dome. Thoughts flooded Oni. He had learned to hate Agis for destroying the tribe, but it was Oni’s decisions that had killed most of them. Now he was the last alive. Even with the healing power of Lathander he cursed him a little. The death of the tribe form TroBridge might be a bridge to far for his soul.
He watched in awe as Mar’iya and Aria worked together. They were working on something. It was dangerous, powerful, and hopeful. The Thir-kings last two minions still pelted the group and he himself brought fiery rage down upon. They only had a limited amount of time. Mar’iya opened a portal. All in one move and with a grace she rarely displayed Aria stepped through the portal. She appeared on the dome above the king. His face showed concern for the first time. She set the gem in place and swung down on it. From Oni’s view she was planning to slide down the dome to safety. The gem exploded destroying the dome. The walls had fallen, and Arnia fell with them. She was prepared to slide the edges, but when it collapsed so did she.
A green blast followed the gems destruction. This green gas was the poison of all the dragons and also contained a physical element. Like light is both a wave and a particle. This wave attacked both internally and externally. Oni moved himself with great skill next to the natural wall. Several people in the group hit the ground but no one seemed to drop from the blast. All three of the enemy pounced Arnia. Even prone she dodged, and they could hardly hit her. The minions stayed to kill Arian but the Thir-king was only interested in Mar’iya. He yelled, “Vashire, I killed her and now it is your turn.”
David was now almost strolling as he moved to be near the Thir-king. He was talking to himself. Each voice sounded different as it came out of his mouth. Some spoke in ancient patterns and accents. As if by consensus, his voice rang out, “Wow!, I never noticed how your name sounds like 13. You were always the worst Walder.” The Thir-king looked at him. His own old name sinking in. It had been so long he had nearly forgotten. Now his direct focus was split between David and Mar’iya. Oni charged in to help end him here and now. It was Arnia after dispatching the last two minions charging in to kill the Thir-king. She swung down a second blow removing his head before his body even hit the ground.
Arnia picked up the head. It was aging. She tossed it down the steps. It aged and degraded so quickly that it was dust as it bounced on the first step. The door behind them opened. A red gem fell from the degraded clothes of the Thir-king. Oni went up to the door to examine it. Mar’iya grabbed the gem. Heated conversations started. David eyes glazed for just a moment.
Mar’iya started to make new movements. He was about to change into fire so he could destroy the gem and survive the process. David’s moment was over and ran down to Mar’iya yelling, “stop. Don’t do it.” He had looped in time and was exhausted. He explained that we tried it, and it destroyed the temple, splitting the group forever. A heated conversation exploded again.
They rested. David had used all his power and maybe the power of the voices within him. Conversations lingered all day and all night. Different plans. In the morning David and Mar’iya were still in a heated conversation. Mar’iya wanted to destroy the temple with the gem. Oni charged over.
In a presence he rarely used, Oni marched into the middle of the group. An aura around him moved people away from him. He brought himself between David and Mar’iya, “Fuck this.” Pointing at Mar’iya, “you will portal out to the desert. Go to where you think the skyglass is. We can make it thicker there.” Oni looked around to their extra friends, “All of you; Wink, Pakku, Nikki, Rain. This is a one-way trip, decide now if you are going to fight a god.” They all looked at each other. “David prepare for us to use the door.” Oni spun to Mar’iya again, “make sure you point the portal on this side away from us.” His rage over the situation calmed in his mind a little. His anger with the gods calmed a little bit. “And you my friend, be careful.”
Mar’iya created the portal and stepped through. A conversation sparked among the extended friends. Some were clearly leaving. Some were going to join us. Fire blasted out of constructed portal. A fiery Mar’iya stepped through a moment later. The entire group gathered in front of the door.
