Session 28

Session Log
November 14, 2021

The party sets off for the Faunar Watchtower, as they pass through Fisherman's Folly they notice the water level of the Stonepool River has fallen, exposing muddy river banks.

By the time night draws near the party, and caravan of 17 companions, have got to the edge of the sprawling forest that covers the rocky hills Faunar is built upon. The night brings a bought of hail so they get the wagon and cart off the road and make camp within the forest.

Once morning comes they break camp and get back on the road, their travel slowed somewhat by the hail that lies on the road. By the afternoon they have arrived at the watchtower and are ready to get to work. A selection of the new recruits start filling the pit dug by the previous goblin occupants, without carrying this out they could not get the wagon into Faunar.

The party clear some vermin from the fort that had taken residence, Fenris takes a bite from a large spider and rests early while others work into the night.

A list of tasks and priorities have been given to the men as an initial survey of the site is carried out before night draws in once more.

The chef, Dandello, gets a nasty shock after finding the state of the kitchen and the human stew left by the goblin forces.

The next day, Faceday Septara 28, is pay day in most parts of Guradam, the party appoint Peyton as the book keep and warden of the watchtower. Torli and Kaldorax are assigned as head guards and to support Peyton in his new role, as many may not take the boy seriously. The men are paid for the week, and the spirits of the men are lifted, it's a positive start to the rebuilding efforts of this valuable guard post.

The men inform the party that an owl has landed in the watchtower, a messenger from Dundel. Retrieving the message, they see it is from Warner Kilner, informing them to meet him as soon as they can at Fisherman's Folly as there is an emergency situation. But before they leave, they have some business to attend to.

The party move to the prison where Knillback is being kept and begin interogatting him before taking him to see the element stone.

Iravius tells the party that he can only figure out so much about the element stone. Its arcane makeup is both older than their current civilisation, and most likely more potent and advanced. He is also uncomfortable with the idea of allowing a murderous gnome wizard any where near their research.

Knillback is brought forth and further questions are fired at him from the party. Jumping between good guy, bad guy interogation tactics Knillback starts acting very twitchy. Artax begins to notice that one, and then both of Knillback's eyes flash between his regular eyes and a deep oily black.

Knillbacks eyes turn black consistently and he begins babbling a language alien to all present. Artax leaps forward to cover the gnome's mouth and stop any potential spells being cast. Knillbacks bottom lip splits and the line stretches down his neck. His bottom jaw splits in two as his maw opens and bites hard on Artax's hand.

His babbling continues and Runes on the element stone begin to glow brightly...
