Lola Netherbone (PAA) Lola Netherbone (AA)
You all are following this trail of footsteps and you come to a rather mossy part of this forest. The canopies overhead are more lush, and the vegetation below seems to be of the sort that grows in darker areas. Dead Nettles, Lady's Mantles, et cetera. As you follow the tracks through here you see a small clearing with patches of purple foxglove dotting the small area. However I would like for everyone to make a perception check.
[DC12 THEY SEE LOLA. She has been obscured by the shade, the dark plants, and the foxglove.
IF THEY SEE HER: You see on the outskirts of this clearing, scaly tough hide in the bushes. It's not exactly moving, but you can see it rise and fall with breath.]
[if pc's investigate, she will charge to try and push the people away for 1d6 bludgeoning, if they don't see her or investigate she will charge out and try and hit someone for the same amount of damage.]
And out from the bushes, you see charging out is a triceratops, black and purple, charging at [PC].
This triceratops careens around towards the edge of this clearing, on the opposite side of where you entered and she says [high, breathy, regal at first, will ask to drop the imposing/intimidating accent later] "Retreat or I will be forced to end your miserable lives!" And as she speaks, her mouth does not move. You can all clearly see that there is a purple gem on her chin that glows when she speaks.
What would you all like to do?
[Lola will try to deter the children from passing. If they try to pass anyways, she will constantly try to yeet them away.]
[Also, I would like to emphasize, that I'm not trying to railroad the chidlren. They can try and go into the place that Lola is guarding, but they'd be foolish to think that where they're going does not require a sort of guard dog outside of it.]
Triceratops
- Armor Class 13 (Natural Armor)
- Hit Points 95 (10d12+30)
- Speed 50 ft.
- Senses passive Perception 10
- Challenge 5 (1,800 XP)
- Trampling Charge. If the triceratops moves at least 20 ft. straight toward a creature and then hits it with a gore attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the triceratops can make one stomp attack against it as a bonus action.
Actions
- Gore. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: (4d8 + 6) piercing damage.
- Stomp. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one prone creature. Hit: (3d10 + 6) bludgeoning damage.
- IN REGARDS TO LOLA’S FIGHTING: This girl will not try and actually murder the party. She moreover just wants to keep people away, as opposed to just straight up murdering them. This is still Lola Neverbone, she is still shy and someone submissive. She is good at following orders, but she also is a bit demure.
[IF THE PC'S MAKE IT PAST]
You are able to get past the triceratops and you are able to sneak through the vegetation and you come to a building. {investigation reveals that the door is about the only thing around this building that is not overcome with vegetation.} What would you like to do?
{secret key time. The only way to get through the door is with a key, and without the magic key the door cannot be moved, destroyed, opened, etc.}
