So it seems that the cockatrices have left their nesting grounds because of shocker lizards moving in. The shocker lizards have moved in because the cockatrice's nesting area has flooded with boiling water. While the shocker lizards find the area inhabitatable, they moved from their traditional gathering place because of a 'swimming swallower' that was hunting them.
