The lands ruled by Prince Forrand Carnhold. Despite rumours of a misspent youth Forrand appears to have become religious and pious in his later years he now rules in a way that reflects this change in character. He has a serious and considered manner and he likes to take his time in making decisions about his lands. Some see this as uncertainty and weakness others as rational and unimpulsive. The lands themselves make most of their money from farming and hunting of wild game.
Forrand is said to be increasingly focused on the regions economy, introducing a series of measures to aid merchants both domestic and travelling one and to promote trade.
The Principality has even introduced its own native currency. A decision that has caused the king some concern. The currency has been eagerly adopted by the locals who love its images celebrating their heritage and culture. It's mere introduction seems to have lent a boost and a feeling of boom times.
Creating a reliable legal framework was just the start he also created measures to speed up the process by which justice is administered, appointing a series of martials who can make decisions in his name.
He has also licensed several new banks which have already started offering loans to other baronies back by the grain economy of the principality.
In order to get these changes implemented fast and to deal with any resistance from those who were previously benefiting from the status quo on these lands before they were ruled by the prince, Forrand created the Sweeping Hand, an order of bully boys who could intimidate and if necessary exterminate any opposition. This order got the job done but now there are those who fear it has grown too powerful and with its primary goal achieved it may exert a malign influence on society. Various opponents of the princes plans did die in mysterious ways and most folk quietly believe that they met their ends at the hands of the Sweeping Hand assassins. Members of the order were think ringed eye make-up and white face paint. Both men and women of the order also shave and paint their heads.
The Prince's banner has the royal wreath of Carnhold and a flower local to the forests he now rules.The northern part of his land was taken from the House of Sleth after their defeat by the king just before Forrand was born.
