The House maintains large solar farms and has one of the few coastlines outside ofCrownhome that is safe for large scale fishing boats. This makes the House one of the wealthiest and most powerful in the kingdom.
Not that fishing is easy. Sea monsters are still encountered regularly and many votes are lost. Fishing and the wealth it brings is a relatively new experience for the House as the king on recently allowed The Society of the Bond to build them boats that would withstand the sea making fishing dangerous but viable. As a result fish and fishing do not have a place in their traditional culture and there is many that think the industry and the money is rapidly changing the House.
The king is keen to keep the House close and as such the presumed heir Hilona Soletan is currently a guest of the king at his capital Headcrown. The House ride giant genetically engineered serpents and snakes are the central symbol in their art and culture.
These giant snakes shed their large scales from which the Soletan make their famous armour and body plates. The snakes cannot be ridden whilst they are in their shedding phase and must be allowed to feed excessively on desert creatures before the event occurs if the rider is to maintain the respect and control of the creature. The rest of the time both the saddle and reins are fitted below the scales - locked in behind them. This can make young snakes, unused to such attachments unpredictable and aggressive.
The Soletan are said to have a strong interest in magic and will pay handsomely for texts on data on the subject. They are rumoured to pay and support certain cults. These cults live in remote communities in the desert practicing their infernal arts far from prying eyes. They say they give them gold for the secrets they uncover, so much gold that they are willing to go to great lengths and commit the darkest deeds in search of power.
However, others say that these are rumours spread by rival Houses and aimed at driving a wedge between the Soletan and the king. That there are those who would poison the kings mind against the Soletan by playing on his well known suspicion of magic.
