In 1575 a band of settlers moved from Sartar and founded a prosperous trading post and fort outside the cyclopean walls of the Rubble of Pavis. The Spirit of Pavis, which had protected the ruins of the Rubble, made compact with Orlanth and moved to the new settlement for a new life.
In 1610, only 35 years after it was settled, new Pavis surrendered to a Lunar army. Since then it has grown as a major stopping-place on the road from the Empire to Corflu, and as a center for settlement of the Valley of Cradles hardy Lunar frontiersmen. The nearby Rubble is a major attraction for adventurers who wish to mine for robber’s loot, treasure, or ancient artifacts.
Pavis is on the north bank of the River of Cradles.
