Beastkin

Monstrosity

Beastkin are similar in appearance to lycanthropes, however they are a different race entirely. Unlike lycanthropes who are born or become cursed with lycanthropy, beastkin are simply beasts who have acquired humanoid-like traits and intelligence. How exactly this occurred, no one truly knows. Some say they were a bi-product of an archmage's experiment, other say that a circle of druids went to far, and other says they were animals blessed with intelligence by the gods. In any case, beastkin usually keep to their own, though a few individuals have chosen to live among the other humanoid races, usually in rural villages and towns.

Due to their beast-like appearance and similarities with lycanthropes, Beastkin are often mistaken for such monsters. Beastkin are unable to shapeshift and usually are more beast-like than human, often having a hunched posture and being larger than the average humanoid. Beastkin often live in tribes with other beastkin, their hierarchy is mostly determined by strength, however, each beastkin are given roles that they are suited for and all beastkin look after every member of their tribe no matter their place in the tribe's hierarchy, the old have knowledge that will help the tribe, the weak and sick can become strong, and the young are the tribe's future.
