Vith is the Grand Countess of Life and, before Prethao became part of the Illiadian Pantheon,
was also the main deity that governed not only the creation of life,
but also the transition from life to death. Although she still shares
the occupation of psychopomp with Prethao, Vith's main purpose in the
pantheon now is the creation and preservation of life.
Personality-wise,
Vith is often thought of as kind and warm, but also very introverted
and shy, yet very good with plants and animals. This may be one of the
reasons why she's often depicted as a farmer or a gardener, although
there are also some stories where she takes on the disguise of a human
farmer.
Although not strictly against all kinds of undead, Vith
nonetheless frowns upon the exploitation and intentional perverting of
the circle of life and death. This is why she's often noted to take in
Type Gamma Feda-Lide
as champions who protect souls and people in her name, but
also to fight undead threats like zombies, Type Alpha Feda-Lide, evil
spirits, and in worlds like Sancstoryl, evil Necromancers and Liches.
There
are rumors and folk tales that Vith is secretly romantically
intertwined with her counterpart Prethao, but these are merely hearsay
and not part of any official religious canon. Nonetheless, the potential
romance between the two is often the subject of religious art.
Vith answers to all four of the major deities of Illiad.
Basic tenets of Vith:
- Be compassionate and respectful to all life.
- Protect and preserve lives wherever you can, and where you can't or shouldn't, instead help those who are about to cross to the next life find their way.
- Try to find joy in at least a bit of every day of your life; someday, you will lose your chance to do so.
- Respect the cycle of life and death. Do not take lives where it's unnecessary, and accept that, one day, you shall also cross onto the next life.
