(Homebrew by Christopher Zito on dmsguild. Updated Version can also be found in "The Living Index" on his Patreon. Due to the commercial nature of the homebrew, it will be provided to players if they want to play this race. Note: The Living Index says the creature type of Thrro is Construct, but as previous versions were humanoid, I will allow normal healing spells to work on them for the time being.)

This Race has optional racial feats in its DMsGuild document, if they're so desired; Base-Race and Assembly Features from the Living Index book are preferred, as they're the definitive version of the race, but Assembly Features that aren't featured in the Living Index can be discussed.

Recent rediscoveries in the field of Maton-Construction have also resulted in people wanting to experiment with the formula, to change up their creations just a little bit. The Thrro were the results of one such experiment, with their creators using materials such as cloth and cotton instead of wood and metal. The fact that Thrro are made from fabric rather than metal or wood makes them highly customizable, so almost no two Thrro are completely alike, or even have the same abilities.

Soft Guardians and Warriors of Cloth

Newly created Thrro are often first used as guardians for children, who enjoy their soft, plushy appearance, with a child's Thrro guardian sometimes even becoming a life-long friend. However, wizards and arcanists also use them as guards and servants, or even for other means, like as personal soldiers or simply for companionship. Their designs can range from cute and squishable, to intimidating and even extremely unsettling and creepy, depending on what the arcanist who creates one wants them to accomplish. With time, however, Thrro develop personalities and a soul, very similarly to Mata, at which point they often are faced with the choice to either stay with those they were tasked to protect, or leave to find a place for themselves in the world. Many Thrro often look for things to complete, and enjoy being given tasks, even when they attain sentience. Nonetheless, Thrro are still creatures with souls and their own goals, so an arcanist who mistreats one may one day realize just how sentient their Thrro servant had become, when they are staring down its blade.

While it's not known where exactly the first Thrro was made, there's a story going around that the first Thrro was created by a royal arcanist to be the guardian of a princess somewhere, after her mother, a queen, was assassinated. Much to the King's discomfort, the arcanist made the Thrro in the Queen's image, to properly comfort the little princess. Despite initial reservations, the King saw what a good job this Thrro did with bringing comfort and safety to his daughter, and was amazed at just how much personality it had, and soon, he commissioned said arcanists to make more Thrro, this time as soldiers to fight against the people who had his wife assassinated, but also to bring more comfort and protection to his citizens. These Thrro soldiers became the first "Toy Soldiers"; which is a a certain style of fighting, that can only be properly learned by Thrro.

The natural desire of many Thrro to want to protect people has lead many of them to take on the path of Paladins. Some who enjoy bringing smiles to the faces of children and adults alike also often try to become Bards. However, Thrro of any class exist, as their personalities are as varied as their designs.

Thrro often have a similar alignment to that of their creator, and since they're relatively new to Sancstoryl, it's not quire clear for how long they can remain alive and functioning.
