This two-foot long rod has a core of mithril covered with scales and talons of a Silver Dragon. The ends are capped with cut diamonds which continually emit bright silvery light in a 5-foot radius and dim light in a 30-foot radius.
The Silver Dragon Havarlan donated some of her own scales and battle-worn talons when the Talons of Justice commissioned this rod's construction in 1242 DR. As a paladin of the dragon god Xymor she wielded it until her death at the hands of Sammaster in 1373 DR. Bonding with the rod is said to grant the wielder an ability to regenerate the wounds and even limbs of creatures, but at a tremendous personal cost.
Attuning to the rod will grant the wielder resistance to necrotic damage as long as it remains within 5 feet of the attuned creature. Each time you become attuned to the artifact you age 3d10 years. This aging can not be reversed short of a Wish spell.
Item Usage (Attuned Only)
- Wielder may cast Spare the Dying cantrip as a bonus action with a range of 30 feet.
- As a bonus action, draw blood either from yourself or from a willing (or incapacitated) creature within your reach by scratching or thrusting a dragon talon into their flesh. The subject takes 1d4 damage of the appropriate type. Regardless of who donates blood, the wielder feels a flash of pain. As an action within the next minute wielder may cast Regenerate as per the spell, without using material components. After you cast the spell, roll a d6. On a roll of 1-5, you can't cast it again until the next dawn.
