We had a tabaxi come through once, a few winters back. She kept the taproom packed each night with her stories and spent most days napping in a chair in front of the fireplace. We thought she was lazy, but when Linene came around looking for a missing broach, she was out the door before I could blink an eye.

Hailing from a strange and distant land, wandering tabaxi are catlike humanoids driven by curiosity to collect interesting artifacts, gather tales and stories, and lay eyes on all the world's wonders. Ultimate travelers, the inquisitive tabaxi rarely stay in one place for long. Their innate nature pushes them to leave no secrets uncovered, no treasures or legends lost.

Collectors of All.

Tabaxi have a general knack for finding and hoarding magical items. Whether it is due to their curious nature or their wanderlust, within an encampment one will find a varied assortment of magic items. Some seem to be mundane things, such as a Staff of Flowers; the importance of that item is within the story of how they acquired such an item or how it was used previous to the Tabaxi’s possession, possibly to create a particular flower to cure a disease of an entire town

With a nose for knowledge and an ear to the ground for rumors of powerful items, they are always on the lookout for something out of the ordinary. Some Tabaxi are more keen on the arcane, while others seek out the histories of worlds and return to their camps and tribes to recall these.

Depending on how valuable a Tabaxi deems the item, they will be reluctant to give it up. For this reason, Tabaxi camps are often hidden away and highly sought after by adventurers. Many have returned from attempts to infiltrate and steal what they desire, though they are easily captured and sometimes, depending on the importance of the item, slain and eaten.

Trusting of None.

Tabaxi are not known for being "social" creatures like that of elves or humans. While some of the Tabaxi tribes are social within their own camps, they do not trust many outsiders. Most remain in their homeland of Maztica, caring for their camps and tribes and keeping to themselves. Due to their size, variety of tribes and those within, and their reclusive nature it is not uncommon to hear of hunters preying upon Tabaxi camps.

While there are hunters and protectors within the camps, Tabaxi are easily outnumbered when other predators take on the camp. A single Tabaxi may be able to take one or two intruders, but not an entire bandit company.
