Arthropods or Arthropoda are invertebrates characterized by having segmented bodies, an exoskeleton composed of chitin, and jointed legs. Lacking the ability to grow like other animals, arthropods have to continuously molt out of their exoskeleton in order and have a new softer one underneath.
