The wall is the marker beyond which the city is controlled by the VCPD. It is thought of in plain terms as a way of keeping the poor in their place and maintaining the luxuries and lifestyles of those on the other side. The wall runs right up the western side of the street and is heavy enough that a car could not smash through it. Some sections have been re-enforced after attempt were made to do just that. Large portions of the eastern side of the wall are covered in graffiti.
You need a pass to get through the police road block and enter the western part of the city. Day passes can be issued at great expense to the poor looking to spend a day or even a night amongst the luxuries they are denied on the other side of this massive dividing line. The wall even works its way across the river cutting the south bank on the city in half as well. To live on the western side of the wall permanently, one must be able to afford a property there.
