All of the group thoughtful in their own ways, they were allowed to stay the night, despite some of the more worrying foretellings by the Seer. Siax got permission to gather a vial of the river water, and then they settled down with the lizardfolk they had saved in order to sleep. Departing in the morning, the mood was somewhat sombre, as the group started their journey away from the lizardfolk's city and towards Ulftower, where Ularan was staying. The journey started off smoothly as they made their way east, in part because they were moving away from the centre of the Mere and into more stable ground. However their journey went awry as they neared the area where the tower was meant to be close to, when a fumble with map reading took them in the wrong direction, patches of ground seeming much like each other. It was there that they first heard the sounds of moaning and groaning, and they were soon witness to a large group of undead charging their way, with a small group of humans chasing after them.
The group got themselves ready, Effie casting hypnotic pattern and hiding, Arya changing into a bird and flying up for a better vantage point, Siax putting his back to a tree and readying his bow, and Idris trying to hide but not exactly managing. Pine meanwhile watched the undead running towards them and chose to contact Ularan instead via Sending.
Pine: Visiting you. Your patrol is attacking us. Humans are hunting them from behind. Do not want to waste your resources. Can they let us through?
Ularan: Under attack I am afraid. Rebellion amidst everything. If they are humans tell them Sarovahl Wonders. Good luck
Pine called out the passphrase to the humans, and they altered their actions to more firmly come to the group's aid, rather than merely taking down the undead, and soon the undead had been killed handily. In the aftermath it was easier to see the differences in these undead than those the group had fought before, for they appeared to be modified and altered to make them more durable, some with metal embedded into their flesh.
As the two groups came together and got talking, Effie realised that she knew the armour that the women were wearing, and made herself inconspicuous while others talked to the group. Pine told them that they needed to get to the tower in order to reinforce it, and the group seemed happy to guide them through the swamp to the tower. However when they got there, they realised that it was not Ularan's tower that they had been led to, but another one entirely.
The tower, which had been housing the undead before they broke out, was overseen by a leader by the name of Rega Swarn. Idris attempts to introduce himself to her, (all of the fighters are women), while she is feeding a chimera in a cage, one that is not attacking her while she does so, but she rebuffs him. It was the chimaera that lent the name to this group, a very notorious band of bandits and marauders called the Chimera Crew.
Meanwhile Effie tries to sneak around to learn more, but nearly gets brained by a huge pile of dried bird shit, Pine tells the leader that it was a misunderstanding coming here, as they were trying to get to Ularan's tower to reinforce it. However it was Arya who brought the most attention, for the women seemed to recognise her as having been in a previous gang with them, 'Saff's Crew', and mentioned that the leader seemed a little obsessive about trying to find her again, even going to Leilon to leave a message for her.
With Rega Swarn in discussion with others in the tower, and a spellcaster attempting to send a message, likely to Ularan's tower for confirmation, the group had a moment to rest and relax.
