Drannor the Unbound

Drannor the Unbound was once a powerful and ambitious wizard who sought to challenge the rule of Nibenay. Recognizing Drannor's potential threat, Nibenay captured and imprisoned the half-elf spellcaster using an ancient enchantment. Nibenay feared Drannor's mastery of forbidden magics and sought to neutralize the threat before it could be unleashed upon him or his dominion. The sorcerer king hoped to keep Drannor bound indefinitely to ensure his own supremacy and prevent any uprising against his rule.

Spellcasting. Drannor is a 10th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 15, +7 to hit with spell attacks). Drannor has the following wizard spells prepared:

Cantrips (at will): mage hand, ray of frost, shocking grasp, prestidigitation

1st level (4 slots): shield, magic missile, detect magic, mage armor

2nd level (3 slots): misty step, mirror image, darkness

3rd level (3 slots): counterspell, fireball, lightning bolt

4th level (3 slots): ice storm, stoneskin

5th level (2 slots): cone of cold, telekinesis

Arcane Recovery (1/Day). Drannor can regain expended spell slots up to a combined level of 5.

Elven Resistance. Drannor has advantage on saving throws against being charmed and magic cannot put it to sleep.

Bound by Ancient Enchantments. Drannor is restrained by powerful arcane bonds. Its movement is reduced to 0, and it cannot take actions or reactions.

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If Drannor fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Spell Reflection. When Drannor is targeted by a spell that requires a saving throw, it can use its reaction to reflect the spell back at the caster. The caster must make the saving throw instead.

Actions

Psychic Barrage (Recharge 5-6). Drannor targets a creature it can see within 60 feet. The target must make a DC 16 Intelligence saving throw, taking 33 (6d10) psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Psychic Drain. Drannor targets a creature it can see within 30 feet. The target must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or take 21 (6d6) psychic damage and have its hit point maximum reduced by an amount equal to the damage taken. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. If the target's hit point maximum is reduced to 0 as a result of this attack, it dies.
