Known as the Iron Hand, Alberto had advised the Clan not to back Mussolini prior to WW2 and thus found himself sidelined from major decisions for a number of decades.
While the cocaine drug trade did not come as a surprise to the clan, they did underestimate the desire for the narcotic in America and Europe. However, Albert had not followed his clan in underestimating the desire for the drug. He had quietly built up contacts among the Followers of Set and Brujah in South America. He was then put in charge of all operations in the Florida region and shifted his haven to a more appropriate location.
Alberto, within clan Giovanni, is primarily known as a Necromancer. He has spent hundreds of years devoted to the study of death, using narcotics to enhance the abilities of his ghouls and raised creatures.
In the 1920's he began reaching out to various kindred in Columbia and traded undead for cocaine and other narcotics. While the world raged through WW2, he continued his correspondence with his South American allies. This came in handy when the course of the war went against the Axis nations and high-ranking Italians and Germans had to flee. Alberto, and his kin, used their smuggling network to get many of these individuals away from Allied hands and into the anonymity of South America.
By the mid-70s, as the heroin trade began to wither Alberto seized the opportunity to truly use his South American contacts. The Giovanni clan then spent 3 yrs buying up several properties in the Bahamas, Mexico, Florida Keys, and Miami through hidden companies to funnel cocaine through the area. They built up a fleet of small planes and speed boats, along with cars and trucks once the narcotics were on American soil, to move the mass amounts of coke.
Finally, in 1978, the clan officially made their presence felt in Miami by ensconcing Alberto and his childer to run the operation.
