A cult that arose around the concept of Cosmic Race Theory. The group believes that eliminating genetic aspects of race would be easier than eliminating the cultural aspects of racism. In their enclaves, reproduction is strictly controlled and directed toward this goal, pairing disparate genotypes to congregate around the epicenter of human genetic variation.
Lineage is culturally taboo in the Womb, and all children are considered children of all parents. Cosmics prefer a Kibbutz-style society, and it works pretty well for them.
The project was declared complete around , in which their assessments found that genetic lineage was untraceable in the Cosmic Culture population.
While they have eliminated racism within the Womb, it's not exactly the end of their struggle because:
- The revelation of Cro-Magnoids and development of Homunculi have massively broadened human diversity, to the point that what people considered race before is far less visible to the average person;
- They haven't eliminated race anywhere but within the Womb, effectively creating an additional race... for people to be racist against. Sort of like trying to unify a tech standard.
- The massive cultural drift that came out of an ultimately authoritarian eugenic process intermingled with syncretic spiritualism has also created a culture that most other humans find somewhat alien.
