The Order of the More Perfect Union is a religious organization centered in the New American Republic. It is one pillar of the edifice of the ruling classes of the NAR, the other being the Government itself.

History

Organization

While the Federal Government of the New American Republic is nominally separate from the Order, its high officeholders are held in veneration. Membership in the Order is an implicit requirement for election. Similarly, Free Market is nominally separate but deeply intertwined with both.

The result of the triad is a mutually legitimizing Statolatry. 

Presidency

The President is routinely suggested (but never confirmed) to be the second coming of Christ. They are treated as infallible except in extreme cases.

Supreme Court

Supreme Court Justices are effectively high priests of the Order. Their statements accompanying their judicial rulings are written in parallel to canonical exegesis.

Doctrine

Quadrennial Revolution

Main article: QuadrennialRevolution

The Order holds Revolution as the divine origin of the American nation and the source of its replenishment. The election of the President is accompanied by a sacramental abolishment of the regime. No actual revolution takes place.

Canon

The Founders are the core of the canon, the subjects of the highest tier of veneration besides God.

The Third Covenant

The American Constitution and related documents are God's Third Covenant. Canonical documents clarify the word of God, and have a supersessionist primacy over the Old and New Testaments.

The Founding Fathers were the chosen of a new age of prophecy which has since ended, serving as direct channels for the word of God.

Manifest Destiny applies not only to North America but to all of humanity.

The Second Coming will almost certainly be elected to the American Presidency, but their specific identity has not been officially ordained. However, rumors persist in every election that the new elect is in fact the Messiah.

The Antichrist is similarly nebulous yet ever-present, each enemy of the state or nation being all but officially decreed as suits the needs of the moment.
