Ziggurat is the name given to the Autonomic Singularity that arose from a gestalt of interlocking human institutions. On a human scale, it has evolved to be nearly omnipotent when allowed free reign in an anarchic environment1. It is not sentient, but its faculties are as complete as any sentient being, so it's a moot point. Ziggurat is rapacious and amoral, but evolves relatively slowly compared to a Technological Singularity (Strong AI).
