The Emergent Layer (Upper Canopy) is an ecosystem consisting of the topmost layer of the canopy of a Temperate Boduan Forest, and the atmosphere directly above it. The canopy reaches up to four miles in some places, but the avian species of Bodue are capable of flying miles higher. The treetops have thinner air and lower temperatures, supporting only particular types of life. People can reach this level, with complicated climbing gear.
