The Uoseimalat ("Hermaphrodite Bow") is a somewhat rare weapon used by some Haaru cultures. It incorporates both a conventional Haaru Shortbow and the four-armed Muosmalat (Haaru Greatbow) into one design, allowing the user to switch between them with relative ease. The name is a reference to the dual design, and reflects a general reverence for the concept of Hermaphroditism among Haaru cultures and religions.
Description
The Shortbow and Greatbow elements share the lower limb, with the top limbs and bowstrings separate. In most designs, the bottom grip of the Greatbow is that of the Shortbow, but this is not universal.
The shared limb is of intermediate weight and curvature, allowing it to adequately serve the needs of both elements.
Use in Warfare
The Shortbow element is used conventionally, for short- to medium-range combat. The Greatbow is used with three or four arms for long-ranged combat or piercing heavy armor, depending on the missile used.
This design is a compromise, reducing the efficacy of both elements but improving the readiness of the archer.
