Summary

From the Laniakea.Virgo.Local.MW.OA.Sol.Earth.Greek "kypséli", meaning "hive". Adopted by the insectoids as both the race name and the planet name because they didn't have a name for themselves or their home planet, and never realized it was necessary.

Origin

Physiology

The Kypséli are comprised of several curiously interfertile taxonomic phyla. Despite this, the Kypséli themselves either cannot or refuse to accept this polymorphism as a worthwhile indicator of uniqueness, insisting that "all Kypséli are Kypséli.” They seemed to have at one point had a second "caste" which functioned as rulemakers, but they went extinct, leaving the Kypséli to fulfill their duties of peacefully building, gathering, and breeding for several thousands of earth years.

Psychology

They are psychologically incapable of developing or mirroring leadership skills and they either cannot or outright refuse to learn to build operate or repair anything more complex than biomatter-based living structures. Further, they will not explicitly perform "security" roles, as they only seem to be capable of committing violent acts when immediately threatened or when their recognized authority figure is threatened.

Any Kypséli who is "captured" and not subjected to committing violence will immediately make itself available as an addition to the usurping crew's command.
