Actaeon, the Master Ranger, also known to many as the Master of the Hunt and patron to many rangers, foresters, and woodsmen. Very rarely does he reveal himself to his followers, he does wander the Material, hunting great prey as he travels and teaches those that use the woods to survive. Though he does claim a realm of his own, he rarely finds himself in the Grove of Tranquility, found bridging the Beastlands and Arborea.
Powers and Personality
Atypical of nature deities, the few who have met Actaeon have described him of being stern and stoic, although some admit he appears to have a softer side when speaking with or about the god Frigg. While caring for the woods and being patron to many hunters and woodsmen, he strives to defend and teach those to care for nature and its creatures and respect it as one would another. He gave little care to the whims and machinations of other deities and focused solely on his allies and followers.
When it came to nature itself, he cared greatly for the balance between growth and death, wasting nothing of what he hunts and gently strove to guide mortals in the same manner - respecting the cycle of life. This was considered to be his dogma and he was quite distant in regard to its necessity.
He holds a special hatred for those who would kill wantonly or with deliberate intention with the waste of their kills.
Relationships
While called the "Son of the Earth" and spoken of as Frigg's child with theirself, he is not truly and it is to be seen more as an honorific than true lineage. He does indeed treat the Goddess of Nature as a maternal figure and is frequently seen by their side and comes to their aid. Seen as the superior to the young god Pleth, his followers mingle with those of Pleth'sown and the Hunter can be seen as something of a mentor to him. While not intrinsically opposed to the lycan goddess Ceiyr and her violent ideologies, Actaeon has frequently been taken as her lover and foe.
