Most rivers in northern Oria have lain dormant for centuries, their surfaces frozen over with a permanent sheet of ice. The Defiant River is a recent exception in the remote north, with waters rushing over the still landscape. The river’s source passes over a hot spring exposed by the earthquake that shook the world during the Pilgrimage. Now, the river flows warm year-round.
